Empowered Girls Summer camp is designed to inspire girls, ages 6-16, by challenging them mentally, enhancing their physical ability, promoting creativity, and encouraging them to take risks. Summer camp includes hands-on activities and a friendly all-girl environment. Lunch and an afternoon snack will be served everyday.
Our Mission: Enhancing the quality of girls’ lives by providing programming that builds integrity, respect and self-worth.
Our counselors: Teachers, grad and undergrads students dedicated to working with girls and leading their summer activities. They are inspired to teach and bring their knowledge of math, science, art, music, photography and much more.
Our Summer Focus:
Our Summer Camp program will build skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Research shows a significant correlation between extra-curricular STEM involvement interest and confidence in girls. We know confidence breeds self-esteem & self-worth. Our STEM activities during summer camp will engage our girls in fun ways and challenging ways so they gain confidence.
The activities will include:
Learning about Careers in STEM - Learning how to research - Learning how to design apps - Learning how to code - Conducting science based projects - Experiencing math by solving real life problems
In addition to STEM activities, we will deliver leadership development activities. While the numbers have improved, the gap in women leaders remains both in numbers and compensation. Here are statistics our leadership activities are aimed at improving: 1 in 3 girls fear being thought of as bossy by pursuing leadership opportunities; only 21% of girls believe they have the qualities to be a good leader; and 30% of girls with a GPA of 4.0 or better do not believe they are smart enough to pursue their dream careers. The activities will include: Curriculum, Leadership projects, writing and learning about women in leadership roles.
Our Summer Projects:
Building your personal vision: setting goals and how to make them real.
Crafting and Creating Art: Drawing, fashion, jewelry, pottery, and more.
Photography: Girls will learn how to use a camera to take meaningful pictures. They will use their photos in their digital media projects.
Creating Media: Using music, video, creative writing and photography.
Performance / Drama: Acting, singing and dancing
